Dialogue Treehaul (Part 1)


Welcome to this weeks devlog!

If you have seen our previous devlogs on the NPC interaction overhauls or questing system, you would know we have been continuously improving upon the dialogue system. For those who know a bit of developing in the Unity engine, you may be familiar with localization tables. This in combination with unique identifies and a dialogue manager makes up the current system, however creating new dialogue is a tedious process as we did not have a visual method of creating dialogue.

As such, our new editor tool being developed is a dialogue tree graph which will allow us to visualize, modify and create dialogue with ease!

Currently this is still in development and is not yet compatible with our existing dialogue system, and as such the next devlogs about this system will focus on general dialogue support and quest dialogue support.

We hope that through this new tooling, we can create meaningful dialogue faster, allowing us to better fill the world with interesting characters for you. If you're interested in creating a dialogue system and graph editor for your own Unity projects, the one being developed is based on a great video series tutorial by Indie Wafflus!
