Forging Your Destiny - Crafting System Part 1


A silver-tongued shopkeeper once asked, what does a hero truly need?

Perhaps you need to be swift, nimbly evading your foes. Perhaps you need to be strong, quickly crushing through even the hardiest of armors. Perhaps you need to be wise, tuning your mind to the arcane powers around you.

Regardless of what you need, one could always find the answer in a store, but why spend your hard earned gold when you can forge your own path and craft what you desire! After all, why not use up all that junk you've been hoarding?

As such, this weeks devlog is to showcase the first part of the crafting system, the general framework. It includes some sample recipes, as well as a temporary crafting menu to demonstrate the core functionality.

The framework functions by comparing input requirements from a recipe to the available items in a players inventory, after which a craft request can be made. If all materials are available, they will be removed and the output item will be added to the players inventory.

Although having no impact in the current prototype, all recipes have classifications, which means some will only be available from specific types of crafting stations in the future.
