Tenril's History - Big Quake

Big Quake of Tenril

There was a big quake that shook nearly the entire world. This event was one of the firsts attempt of the God Tenril to give the races a gift. The races both perceived this event in their own ways, each thinking this event only gave them a gift. The Big Quake caused a rift in the landscape, forming a new mountain in the woods and a new valley in the desert.

Xipilian Perspective

The Big Quake that shook nearly the entire planet created a big mountain range and exposed cavities in the sides of it. The Xipilians felt the shake in the ground and saw it as a sign of Tenril being saddened and disheartened by the lack of life in his deserts. Upon finding the mountain range and caves they saw it gave them shelter from the cold nights and it provided stone that could hold the heat from the day. This property made it so that they started collecting this stone and creating houses out of it. The houses absorbed the heat of Sotechli during the day and kept them sheltered from the cold nights. They started harvesting the rock and later metals found in the massive system of caves. The efforts to keep creating houses for the growing population made a mining faction very necessary and one of the first sections to be fully set up and recognized. The resources that come from the mines are used by everyone and there is a constant output from the mines. There are concerns for miners who work too long in the colder mines, and it was through the mines that not being able to regain your strength by absorbing Sotechli’s light leads to a decline in strength and eventually even sanity. When this was discovered there was a schedule set up that made it so that every miner had at least three hours a day to regain strength in the light before going back into the mine.

There used to be a big limit as to how far into the cave system they could go, but due to the creation of herbalism that could replenish their solar energy reserves, it was made possible to explore even further.

Lunaegan Perspective

The Big Quake that shook the entire forest was seen as a sign of Tenril being upset by the fighting their parents had started doing. There was a big shift in the landscape and an area of the forest was cleared because of the shaking. A whole piece of land was pushed up and revealed a rich vein of silver ore that shimmered in the moonlight. The Lunaegans, seeing the open area and feeling saddened by the site, decided to live in the area and work on regrowing the plant life in the area in an attempt to soothe Tenril. The Lunaegans at first ignored the silver, only collecting pieces that fell off the wall naturally and using it as decoration because of the way it shimmered in the moonlight and seemed to scatter the light that hit it. Eventually, they started using the metals for creating protective gear for the guards and messengers, but they still don’t take what hasn’t fallen naturally. There are occasional movements in the rock, either from very small-scale quakes or from bigger animals roaming around. This movement dislodges some of the silver and the Lunaegans then go to harvest the ore.

Any Lunaegan that is seen taking ore from the wall itself is reprimanded for their actions by the guard faction, though they will get less of a chance to explain themselves since they were actively trying to take what had not been officially given to them by Tenril. Most of the ore that was collected prior to them creating gear for the guards and messengers is repurposed to create the gear as well.
