Culture: Lunnaegan Mythology
Religion
Due to the rift that was pushed between the Xipilians and Lunaegans, their once strongly connected religions have changed over time to reflect this divide between races. The solar bodies being so integral to their respective biomancy and pyrokinetic abilities have made it so that all the Lunaegans and Xipilians respectively have a strong connection to their religion and deity since they quite literally give them strength to survive and use their abilities. For both races, it is not an option to not be religious because the proof of the myths is evident in their everyday lives.
The overlap.
There is still some overlap that exists, for example in the creation story that is told. The deities of the sun, Sotechli, and the moon, Lunnadian, started with a good relationship. Due to this relationship, they entered a never-ending dance. The connection between the two created the planet. The name for this new planet was Tenril, which lived in the center of its parents. The planet is trying to turn in time with its parents. Both Sotechli and Lunnadian gave gifts to Tenril in the form of people to inhabit them. Lunnadian created Lunaegans to inhabit Tenril’s many forests and mountains. Sotechli created the Xipilians that would inhabit desolate places like the deserts.
This is where the religions start to differ however due to the rift in the races Sotechli and Lunnadian created. The big drift between the two deities is what makes relationships between races a taboo and something that is seen as a bad thing by both sides. Having a child in this manner is even worse.
The Lunaegans
According to the Lunaegans, Lunnadian created them to take care of Tenril and make sure that the planet stays healthy. When Sotechli heard this he took offense to this because he thought that Lunnadian was afraid of the fire magic that he had given the Xipilians. Thinking that his love had betrayed him he got angry at her and every time he got angry there was a solar flare. In his rage, he created more deserts and Tenril was stuck. Lunnadian moved closer and still does her best to protect Tenril from Sotechli’s rage. The Lunaegans want to quell the anger in the Xipilians and regrow the lost nature caused by Sotechli’s rage. The stars that dot the night sky are protective measures Lunnadian created to protect Tenril and those who inhabit them. The Lunaegans perceive the falling stars as stars that had protected them successfully from an attempt of Sotechli’s invasion of Lunnadian’s time.
They believe that when they die, they will return to Lunnadian and either help nature grow with their magical essence or help her protect in the form of a star. The latter being an award granted only to those who lived their life honoring the nature on Tenril and protected Tenril as Lunaegans from the destructive fires of the Xipilians.
